Your Best Season Yet – Part 2

by Dr. Johnnie Blount

Take Control of Your Mind, Take Control of Your Destiny

As we step into this new season, many of us declare with great expectation: “This is my year!” As your brother in Christ, I stand in agreement with you. Understand that your breakthrough is already within reach, and the key to unlocking it lies in your hands.

Revelation 13:8 reveals a powerful truth: the world was settled from the foundation. This means every problem you’ll face already has a God-given answer and a way of escape prepared before you even encountered it. We often speak of Kingdom grace and the finished work of Christ, yet we miss its profound implication: the work we’re waiting for is already complete. In order to make this our best season yet, we must learn to see the Word, not the world.

Where Is Your Focus?

Too often, we fixate on troubles, circumstances, and challenging situations. When you spend the majority of your time meditating on what you don’t want, your faith inevitably weakens. Jesus declared in Mark 11:23 and Matthew 17:20 that we have what we say. If your words and thoughts align with your problems rather than God’s promises, you’re sabotaging your own breakthrough.

How many more sermons on faith and Kingdom principles do we need before we truly believe? The issue isn’t lack of information, its lack of application. Affirmations mean nothing if your heart and mouth aren’t in agreement. The manifestation you desire to make this your best season yet requires alignment between what you believe internally and what you confess externally.

Faith requires intentional investment. We have given minimal time to our spiritual health yet demand maximum results from our faith. This doesn’t work. Your faith will remain weak as long as you continue giving it scraps of your attention. We must give attention to what we allow our minds to think upon. You must cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).  Spiritual growth will come when you dedicate time to developing your faith through reading and meditating on the Word.

The Battle Is in Your Mind

In 2 Corinthians 10:4-6, Paul unveils our greatest weapon for demolishing strongholds: our thoughts. Not our prayers alone, not fasting, not retreats or conferences; but the renewing of our minds. These spiritual disciplines are valuable, but Paul specifically identifies our thinking as the battleground where victory is won or lost.

Proverbs 23:7 confirms this: as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. In Genesis, God promised that you can have all your mind can see. Your thoughts have creative power. This is why in 2 Corinthians 4:4, Paul warns that the adversary comes to blind the minds of people. Why attack the mind? Because that’s where your power and strength reside.

What you see with your mind—your thoughts, beliefs, and mental images—becomes either your greatest ally or your fiercest enemy. The enemy isn’t your primary problem. Your mindset is. Everything you’re experiencing externally is rooted in what’s happening internally, packaged between your ears.

Renew Your Mind, Transform Your Life

Here’s a sobering reality: a single thought can hold you in bondage more effectively than any physical restraint. An idea, a belief, a mental stronghold can render your prayers powerless if left unchallenged. This is why taking control of your thoughts isn’t optional, it’s essential.

Paul commands us in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to bring every thought into captivity and submission. This reveals something profound: you have authority over your imagination and thought life. You’re not a victim of your thinking; you’re the guardian of your mind. You have the authority to make this your best season yet, by guarding your thoughts and imagination.

When you truly change your way of thinking, everything else shifts. Your friendships may change because you’re no longer resonating with negativity. The music you listen to, what you watch, and what you read will transform because you’re guarding what enters your mind. You’re protecting the soil where your future is planted.

The enemy needs access to your mind to bring depression, loneliness, rejection, and confusion. But Jesus came to give you life abundantly (John 10:10). Philippians 2:5 instructs us: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”

This week, month, and year will be different because you’re taking control of your thoughts. Your season of breakthrough begins in your mind. Choose today to align your thinking with God’s Word, and watch your reality transform.

Your breakthrough is closer than you think—it’s just one thought away.
