The Unchanging Love of Christ: The Greatest Gift Ever

By Kayla Kennada

The Eternal Nature of Christ

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
This profound truth anchors our faith in an ever-changing world. Over two thousand years ago,
God demonstrated His own love toward us in the most extraordinary way, that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Saints, grasp this: He hasn’t stopped loving us, and
He never will. His love is not dependent on our performance or our circumstances. What He was
on that first Noel, He remains today. He is Emmanuel, God with us.

Understanding Our Identity and Mission

1 John 3:1 reveals a profound reality: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we
should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know
us is that it did not know him.”
We live as Christ’s ambassadors in a world that doesn’t recognize us because it doesn’t recognize
Him. But this isn’t cause for despair. Jesus gave us the Great Commission of carrying the Gospel
to the lost. The world’s inability to know us means they desperately need to know Him.

The Christmas Opportunity

This Christmas season presents one of the most powerful opportunities to introduce the love of
God to those who don’t know Him. Why? Because even in a secular culture, hearts soften during
this season. People are thinking about giving, about hope, and about miracles. They’re open in
ways they might not be any other time of year.
Remember this transformative principle: it is God’s goodness that leads people to repentance
(Romans 2:4). When we demonstrate His goodness through genuine love, we create pathways
for the Holy Spirit to work.

The Overflow Principle

When we truly love God, who Himself is love (1 John 4:8), we cannot help but love people.
When we genuinely love people, we will be compelled to reach the lost with the Good News.
This is what Christmas is truly about for Christians.

Jesus didn’t come to start a religious holiday. He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).
Every Christmas should be a reminder of that ongoing mission, a mission we’re now called to
continue.

Practical Application: Be the Word

Being the Word means:

  • Let your life preach before your mouth does. Your patience in the checkout line, your generosity with your time, and your peace in chaos testify to His presence in you.
  • Create spaces for divine appointments. Invite that lonely neighbor to your table. Buycoffee for the person behind you. Ask the grocery clerk how they’re really doing, and wait for the answer.
  • Share your story with boldness and humility. Don’t underestimate the power of simply saying, “Can I tell you what God has done in my life?”
  • Remember that rejection of your message isn’t rejection of you. They rejected Him first. Love them anyway.

The Challenge

The same Jesus who was born in Bethlehem wants to be born into someone’s awareness through
your witness. Jesus, the same One who died on Calvary wants to bring life to someone’s situation
through your compassion. The same Jesus who rose from the grave wants to resurrect hope in
someone’s heart through your testimony.
The greatest gift you can give this Christmas isn’t wrapped in paper. It is the goodness and love
of Jesus Christ given through you.
You are the Word made flesh in your generation. What will you do with that calling this
Christmas?

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You that Your love never changes. Help us to be the expression of Your goodness
this Christmas season. Open our eyes to see the opportunities around us, soften our hearts to love
without condition, and give us boldness to share the greatest gift of all, the knowledge of Jesus
Christ. Let our lives be living epistles that draw the lost to Your unchanging love. In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
