Your Best Season Yet: Faith for the New Year

by Dr. Johnnie Blount

Stepping Into a Season of Faith and Expectation

As we transition from the celebrations of Thanksgiving and Christmas into the New Year, I find myself deeply grateful for 2025. It was a year that called us toward greater expectation—a year that, while testing our faith, ultimately strengthened us through every trial we overcame.

James 1:2-4 captures this perfectly: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

The Gift of Waiting

Waiting often feels like opposition, yet it frequently works for our good. There’s a profound difference between waiting impatiently and resting while we wait. Impatient waiting reveals doubt in our prayers and faith. But resting in patience? That demonstrates trust in God’s finished work which was completed before we even ask.

We cannot anchor our trust in life’s circumstances or the struggles we endure. Instead, I stand with you in faith that we will see doors open, healings manifest, and miracles unfold. Seasons work in our favor when we are people of faith.

Scripture reminds us throughout the Bible that everything was accomplished from the foundation of the world. This truth is our foundation. Be persistent in your thinking. Fix your eyes on the end result. See yourself living in victory today as if it has already manifested in the natural realm.

Faith That Speaks and Sees

We must see what we desire as complete, just as the Word declares it is. We have what we say when our words align with what we see in faith. This gives faith the opportunity to produce results in your family, your life, and your ministry.

We are stepping into a new year, a new season, a new month, a new week, and a new day. Let us enter with expectation that this season will be the best we have ever experienced. Our faith and trust rest in the Word, which brings us peace because we choose to trust it. The Word tells us repeatedly: it is finished.

We confess it. We speak it. We believe it is so.

If it is so, why worry? Why be anxious about tomorrow when we’ve placed it in the Lord’s hands? Your faith cannot rest in your circumstances. It must rest in knowing that the Word produces faith. Romans 10:17 confirms this: “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Already Provided

If I could share one truth with the body of Christ, it’s this: whatever you need or desire in this life, the Father has already provided. We must believe and receive it by faith.

How do you know you have faith? Because you’ve received it. When you truly receive something, you no longer speak of it as future tense. Faith has already impregnated your spirit with the knowing that it already is.

Throughout Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, we find no instance where God failed anyone who rested in Him or His Word. Our Father is ever faithful. His faithfulness is woven through every character and story from Adam and Eve to the Apostle John. He forever repeats Himself in faithfulness.

Rest in His Finished Work

My hope is to help you come to the end of yourself and recognize that while you cannot fix everything, our Father already has. All we need to do is put our faith in His Word and our hand in His.

Remember: trusting doesn’t mean understanding the how, when, or where of change. In reality, change has already happened. Everything was finished from the foundation of the world.

This season you find yourself in is a season of change, spiritual revelation, rest, joy, and peace. When you embrace this truth, everything else takes care of itself. As 2 Peter 1:3 declares, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life.”

Step forward with confidence. The best is yet to come.
