Hebrews 10:35 says Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. It is so important that we have confidence in the Word. What we say tells everyone where our confidence is.
Showing confidence in the Word
Did you know, it’s not enough to just think the Word? Our thoughts and meditations are important, but the real power comes from speaking the Word. Speaking the Word uplifts us because we are talking to our spirit. (John 6:63 The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.) We increase our faith and confidence when we quote the Word.
We bring God into our situation when we say what the Word says. We agree that the Word is true and that what we see in the natural has to line up with it. Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Why did He send His Word? Psalm 107:20 says He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. Why don’t we see healing and deliverance in our lives then?
When we don’t see what we have asked for
So many times we don’t receive what we have asked for or even what has been promised because we haven’t thanked God for the answer. Mark 11:24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Asking for the same thing over and over cancels our previous request because it’s proof that we didn’t believe and receive the last time we asked. We know the Word has healed us and delivered us, however we must apply the word to our situation and make it personal in order to receive our healing. Receive the Word, instead of just passively listening to the word or reading the word. We have to make that Word our own. The work of the cross is already done. When we know that the cross is a finished work, then we put our confidence in the Word.
Confidence will show
Your confidence produces a byproduct- patience. Patience is the foundation that faith is built on. Lack of patience causes us not to receive. James 1:2-8 says My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Did you see that? Ask in faith and receive. Trials come because of the Word, to test our faith. When we believe and receive, and put our confidence in the Word, and it will change our speech.
When the trials come
The purpose of trials is to produce patience and make us mature and complete lacking nothing. Then why do we lack what we have asked for? Matthew 13:18-22 says that the enemy comes to steal the Word. Guess how the enemy steals the Word? If we focus on the trials, and speak against the Word, it has no effect.
We cry and whine when the tests come. It’s tempting to walk by our feelings about our circumstances, pain, or shame. The enemy wants us to agree with our circumstances and talk contrary to the Word because then our words cancel the scripture we have spoken. Our confidence in the Word can be measured by and seen in our words. Counter the feelings with the Word, and continue to feed your faith.
Stepping out to receive what God has promised or to do what God has called us to do, always includes an opportunity to quit. Remember we are running a race. Hebrews 12:1 let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. And in1 Corinthians 9:24 it says “Run in such a way that you may obtain it (the prize)”.
“The one who endures to the end is the one who wins the prize. That’s what it ‘s all about” Donis Blount
Trials are designed to get us to quit. You’ll always have distractions. Sometimes it’s from the enemy, sometimes it’s your mind or your flesh. Winning always involves endurance and stamina. The only way to win is to keep going, one step at a time. Don’t give up or give in. Stand your ground. Put your confidence in the Truth.
Stand in your faith
Keep in mind, any time you decide to do what the Word says, opposition will come. That’s when having our faith set on the Word is so important. We have confidence in the Word because God doesn’t lie. Numbers 23:19. Without faith you can’t receive from the Lord. (Hebrews 11:6).
“Life, or the enemy, will whip your tail if you don’t know your authority. Speak the Word with authority.” says Donis. Say I am like a tree planted by the river, I will not move. We can have what we say. When you speak the Word to your storm or mountain, you bring God into the situation.
We need to learn to speak the Word (Jesus) over our circumstances over the hell that is going on in our lives. Fix your faith on the Word and that is what will come to you. If you have faith in the circumstances, then more hell is coming.
Be encouraged
Let the Word encourage you and build your confidence. Let the stories of others and how they have overcome encourage you. Pay no attention to the things that could discourage you. Feed your faith with the Word, fellowship with other Christians, messages from church or Bible study and they will renew your mind. Let the Word help you focus on the promises of God. Faith requires that you speak it (the Word), and see it in your heart until you see it in the natural. You receive it internally first; the physical realm is the last to know.
Remember the work of the LORD is finished, sealed, and complete. We win when we come into agreement with the Word. Donis Blount says “When you pray, ask one time. Then every time after that, praise the Lord for the answer. Remember faith, patience and joy walk hand in hand. You’ve got this. The battle is already won. The Word can’t lie. You just have to agree with it.”
