Many believers today miss out on the benefits of having a vision. In Hosea 4:6 God says that his people perish without vision. Yet often people have no vision or limited vision for their lives.
Purpose is calling you forward
I want to encourage you to seek out God’s purpose for your life and what He wants to do in you and through you. Remember you are the answer to someone’s prayer, that is what is calling you forward. The mission He has for you is going to bless many people. Expand your thinking and receive His glory, which is His manifested will.
The Old Testament says that God speaks to his people in dreams and visions. (Joel 2:28) Now, He speaks through His Word, by the Holy Spirit , and through other people. I want to encourage you to take that a step farther. Imagine what wonderful things the Creator of the Universe wants to share with others through you. I believe that God is speaking, but often, we aren’t listening.
Why do we miss what God is saying?
Why do we miss the message? Many times we get overwhelmed by our busy schedules and the noise around us. Sometimes the noise is in our heads. We have to create time to pray and then listen and fellowship with the Holy Spirit in order to receive His purpose or calling. (Jeremiah 33:3) When we are watching TV or spending our time on our phone, the Holy Spirit will wait for our attention. Revelation 3:20 says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me”. Remember He is a gentleman and will not force His vision on you or me.
Knowing His vision involves seeing with your heart, not the ability to see with your eyes. When you spend time with the Father, reading the Word and meditating on it, seeking His vision and plan, the Holy Spirit will give you greater revelation. (Joshua 1:8)
Seek Me and you will find Me
One wonderful thing about vision is that it creates more insight and faith and helps you grow in your relationship with the Father. Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and ask Him to show you or tell you His plan. Jeremiah 29:12-13 says Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Very often God’s vision will seem crazy to us because it’s outside of our comfort zone. It may be like Jonah when God told him to go to Nineveh (Jonah 1:1). It wouldn’t make sense if He gave us a vision we could complete on our own, or that fit with our plan. Don’t let yourself be discouraged. Where He guides, He provides. Many times He will ask you to begin in faith before you understand the whole picture, and then He will bring people to help you complete what He called you to do. One example is the way He sent the disciples to help Jesus. Remember, your job is to do your part, not the whole shebang.
Dream big
The best part is that you can’t out dream God. Let your mind be open to whatever you can imagine. Also be open to His ways and His power, because they are higher than ours.(Isaiah 55:8-9) He is not glorified through small dreams and visions. I believe we limit God and what He can do in us and through us when we dream small. When we dream big, it opens us to receive more and accomplish more.
Start dreaming and pondering what God can do in and through you. If you will open your mind and heart to receive His vision for your life, you give Him a place to work through you.
Like Esther, you are called for such a time as this. You are the answer to someone’s prayer. God is waiting for you to partner with Him and make a difference in the earth. You can make an eternal impact if you willingly let the Holy Spirit work with you and through you. Think about this, some special gift from God is coming through you as you let God manifest his vision. It is important that you agree with His Word, spend time in His Word, and speak His Word. Then heaven backs you and you are empowered as you work in a partnership to accomplish His will here in your world.
How can you affect eternity?
It is thrilling to be a part of God’s plan and know that you have affected eternity by agreeing to work with Him. Don’t think this means you have to start big, and become president or something. Whose life can you make better today? How can you relieve someone’s burden today? When God nudges you to bless someone, with your words, actions or giving, don’t hesitate. You are walking in God’s vision and fulfilling His will here on Earth. Imagine that!
