How To Be The Word!

For years now my tagline has been “Be the Word!” That’s the name of my first book, and I use it to finish each of my daily inspirational messages (or nuggets as I like to call them). It’s also in the name of the academy. Many times people ask me what it means or why I say that. The Bible says, “In the beginning (before all time) was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God and the Word was God Himself.” (John 1:1 AMP) You may have wondered how we can be the Word.

How it all began

One day when I was reading about Jesus being the Word in the flesh I had a revelation. When I began to meditate on Jesus and the Word an idea came to me. That’s what we believers are today, we have the Word in our earthly bodies. Genesis 2:7 tells us that God made man from the dust of the earth. That is who we are- dust. The Word also tells us that we are earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7) and the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). When Jesus was in the earth, He was a man (dust) as well because He was born of a woman. We can see that Jesus continuously released the Word out of His mouth when He was dealing with life situations. For example, in Luke 4 when He dealt with temptation. He spoke the Word time and time again.

If Jesus needed to speak the Word, then how much more do we?

Whenever Jesus healed someone, or worked a miracle, He spoke the Word. Look at Matthew 9:22 or Luke 8:24. Jesus is our example, teacher, guide, and Lord. We are to imitate Christ. So you can see it’s in our Christian DNA to speak the Word.

When the Lord spoke to Ezekiel about the dry bones in Ezekiel 37:4, He told Ezekiel to speak the Words that God spoke first out of his mouth. So when we speak the Bible we are speaking or repeating what the Lord first said. In order for us to have positive results it is important for us to speak what the Word has already spoken, or always be in agreement with the Bible.

It’s in our Christian DNA

Many times when Jesus spoke to the disciples He often spoke the Word. He said “Is it not written?” He always asked the religious people about the Word. This is because Jesus understood that the world itself was established upon the Word. That’s how God created the earth, by the spoken word.

Friends, it is important for us not only to read the Bible, but to become the Word. In order to become the Word, we must know and understand that God abides in us.

Jesus is the Word

In the beginning was the Word, and that Word was Christ (John 1:1, 1:14). The only way Christ can be present in the world today is in an earthly body, and each of us is that earthly body Christ inhabits.

It is critical to let Christ operate through us every day. The only way the world can experience Jesus Christ is through and by us. That’s why we as the Church are called the Body of Christ.

You are the answer to someone’s prayer!

The world is looking for hope. Christ in us is the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27) You are an answer to someone’s prayer. You have or you are the blessing they are praying for. Let the Word come out of you. Be a light in your world!
